ADVENT COUNTDOWN
Advent Countdown
When Advent starts this year, and how long the season lasts.
Advent begins in 31 days, on Sunday, November 29, 2026.
Advent runs from Sunday, November 29, 2026 to Christmas Day, Friday, December 25, 2026.
What is Advent?
Advent is the season of preparation before Christmas. It begins on the fourth Sunday before Christmas Day and ends on Christmas Eve, giving families a gentle runway of four Sundays to slow down, prepare, and look forward to the celebration.
Many people mark Advent with an Advent calendar, opening one small window each day, or with an Advent wreath, lighting one more candle on each of the four Sundays. Both traditions turn waiting into something you can see and share, day by day.
Because Christmas Day moves through the week each year, the Advent start date moves too — but the pattern never changes: four Sundays, counting back from Christmas, with the fourth Sunday before December 25 as the first day of Advent.
